Joseph Yingling

Yingling

Joseph Nelson Yingling of Mars, born Aug. 23, 1930, in Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at the age of 91.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes (Andrews) Yingling; and his son, Michael Yingling.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Burke of Middlesex Township, and Christine (Frank) Sterino of Florida; his sons, Paul (Jeri) Yingling of Colorado, and Keith (Robin) Yingling of Mars; and his grandchildren, Katie, A.J., Megan, Will, Cassandra, Nelson and Kole.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Joe was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, and spent most of his adult life here.

Along with his late wife, Joe built three successful bars and restaurants: The Wayside Inn, Valencia Lounge and McBride Station.

Joe was an active member of the community and volunteered his time generously with the Lions Club and other community organizations.

Friends and family remember Joe fondly as a hard worker, who could fix anything, but who nevertheless enjoyed a good laugh over a beer or two. He also enjoyed playing golf and the occasional game of blackjack at the casino.

Joe passed peacefully surrounded by loving family in his son Keith’s home, nearly three years to the day from his late wife’s passing.
