Investigators released new information as they filed charges against a New Castle man who allegedly fired a gun last month at The Grove Apartments in Slippery Rock.

Donald B. Siddall, 21, was arraigned around 9 a.m. Wednesday by District Judge Joseph Nash on charges including reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

“The investigation determined that Siddall discharged a Glock handgun toward a wooded area from within the apartment grounds,” said state police in a news release Wednesday.

According to charging documents, police arrived at 9 p.m. Jan. 28 for multiple reports of shots fired. Police said the reports claimed the shots came from a third-story balcony in The Grove’s Building 1, which is the center-most building.

“I was provided an image from the Snapchat mobile application, which shows a white male posing with a handgun and extended magazine next to (another man),” police said.

Police said they interviewed Siddall on Monday at the station in New Castle. He admitted to firing the pistol four times into the woods, according to police.

“Siddall relinquished a Glock 43X handgun, magazines which include a translucent extended Glock magazine as pictured on Snapchat, and 9 mm ammunition,” police said.

According to previous news releases, police had also encountered another man at the scene Jan. 28. Police said the man became aggressive, claimed he had a gun and told troopers he wanted to shoot them.

“The male was subdued with non-lethal force and found to be unarmed,” said police at the time.

On Wednesday, police confirmed the man in that encounter was not Siddall. It was unknown whether the man was the one photographed alongside Siddall. It was also unknown whether that man would be charged.

Siddall will next appear for a preliminary hearing March 2 before Nash.
