A Butler man died after his truck hit a tree head-on. Submitted.

According to a Thursday news release by state police, Mark L. McKean, 50, of Butler, died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the 400 block of Portman Road, Summit Township.

Police and other emergency crews were called at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday to the scene.

Police said McKean was driving east on the road, when he lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado, which smashed head-on into a tree.

The police report noted McKean was not transported by EMS, indicating he likely died at the scene, and Butler County Coroner William F. Young III also was called to the scene.
