South Butler to accept input on name change
The South Butler County School District will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Knoch Middle School library to accept public comment on the proposed action to change the school district’s name to the Knoch School District.
Those who live within in the district’s boundaries are welcome to share their opinion on the name change with the school board.
The board must vote on the name change and two-thirds of the nine board members must vote in favor for it to move forward.
The board voted 8-1 in December to change the district’s name.
Administrators and board members in favor of the move said the district already identifies with the Knoch name, as the athletic teams are the Knoch Knights and many people refer to the district as “Knoch.”
The board will hold its work session meeting immediately after the public hearing, and may vote on the name change at that time.
