Rep. Bonner seeking reelection

Tim Bonner

State Rep. Tim Bonner, R-8th, announced Wednesday that he is seeking reelection to the state House of Representatives in November.

Bonner was elected to the office in a special election on March 17, 2020, and was reelected to a two-year term on Nov. 3, 2020.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have been elected as the state representative for our district,” Bonner said. “I truly care about the place we call home and the values we share. That is why the people of Mercer and Butler counties can trust me to use my proven experience, record of accomplishments and conservative values to make our communities better places to live, work and raise a family.”

Bonner previously served as Mercer County assistant district attorney and taught law and government courses at Grove City College. He also served as general counsel and chairman of Grove City Medical Center and served on the Allegheny Health Network hospital board.

In his announcement, Bonner said he led the merger of Grove City Medical Center and the AHN system.

As state representative, Bonner has been chairman of the Subcommittee on Hospital Facilities, was a member of the Health Committee, Human Services Committee and the Children of Youth Committee.

He also said he played a role in challenging Act 77, and opposes no-excuse voting via mail-in ballots.

Bonner said in his announcement letter that he wants to focus on lowering taxes for working families and seniors on fixed incomes, generating and protecting family-sustaining jobs and promoting education.

He also said he wants to combat epidemics, safeguard human life and protect the Second Amendment rights of state residents.

Bonner and his wife, Peggy, have three children, Erin, Ryan and Kelly.

If reelected, Bonner said he plans to be a “strong voice for the people of our district” in the state House.
