The Pawk family, owners of the Lyndora Hotel, have chosen the Brother’s Brother Foundation as the recipient of all money raised in their Ukraine fundraiser Wednesday night and moving forward.

Mike Pawk said after extensive research into many charities’ integrity, board members and the percentage of donations that actually reach those in need, he and his siblings decided on Brother’s Brother.

Pawk said the foundation was chosen because it is Pittsburgh-based, he knows and respects many of its board members and 100% of funds raised go to those in the line of fire in Ukraine and to the 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Romania.

Items to be sent to Ukraine include medical supplies, medicines, hygiene kits and blankets.

Brother’s Brother Foundation also is exploring in-country partnerships in Poland and Romania to ensure refugees receive food, clothing and shelter.

He said those stopping at the Lyndora Hotel to make a donation for Ukraine relief at 4 p.m. or later on Wednesday should make checks out to “Brother’s Brother Foundation” and make sure that “Ukraine relief” is included on the note line.

The regular Wednesday night Open Mic Night with Donny Eozzo this week will be augmented to include the sales of carryout halupki, pierogies and kiffles, which is a flaky bread similar to a croissant; the sale of T-shirts lettered with “Stand With Ukraine”; and a basket raffle. Donations also will be accepted.

The regular menu and bar also will be available, Santoro said.

Pawk and his family are Ukrainian descendants.
