Commissioners seek bids to repave 10 Butler Twp. roads

BUTLER TWP — Several roads in Butler Township are up to be repaved.

Commissioners voted to advertise for bids for the 2022 road resurfacing project, for which 10 roads are tentatively listed to be repaved, including Victor Road, Township Line Road, Judson Avenue, Blair Drive, Beverly Road, Germaine Road, Bellefield Drive, Barracks Road, Fairground Hill Road and Williams Road.

The list put up for bid are potential projects for 2022, and the number that will be repaved depends on factors, including the offers from bidders, commission President Dave Zarnick said during Monday’s board of commissioners meeting.

“These are all subject to pricing, how the bids come in,” Zarnick said. “We have got to take everything into consideration.”

The commissioners also voted to donate 16 pieces of expired body armor from the police department to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for use in its Criminal Justice Training Center.

John Hays, township chief of police, said the department has 12 pieces of expired body armor, and four more pieces will expire this year.

Commissioners also voted to advertise the availability of a new full-time position, for an executive administrative assistant.

Township manager Tom Knights said the township has a salary range that will be determined once the township chooses a candidate.
