Butler City police said charges are pending against a driver who struck several parked vehicles on East Jefferson Street while he was distracted by his cell phone.

No one was injured in the accident at 8 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street, but three of the damaged vehicles had to be towed away, police said.

Police also said they weren’t immediately able to contact owners of some of the damaged vehicles.

Traffic citations are pending against the 28-year-old driver from Chicora, police said.

“The Butler City Police remind drivers to put their phone down while driving. It is not that important that it can not wait until you are stopped,“ police said in a statement.
