SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School graduate Ricky Mineo struck out 11 and did not allow a run in 5.2 innings Friday as Slippery Rock University’s baseball team defeated Saint Anselm, 5-1, at Critchfield Park.

Mineo has recorded 28 strikeouts without allowing an earned run in 11.2 innings so far this season. Luke Trueman, Connor Hamilton and Eddie Morris all homered for SRU. which is off to its best start since 1993.

The Rock hosts Saint Anselm for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Critchfield Park.
