Butler County's great daily newspaper

Woman’s one last effort to get out the vote

Maybe you saw it and read it. Maybe someone else mentioned it to you.

Right there on page 14 of the Friday edition of the Butler Eagle. Down in the bottom right corner of the page. The same page with the other obituaries.

Peg Rosenfield passed away. She was 90 years old, and either she or a family member had a wonderful message for the readers of her hometown newspaper.

Mrs Rosenfield was a committed voter and a committed Letter to the Editor writer. Her final Letter to the Editor was printed in the Columbus Dispatch the same day she died.

Her obituary stated that “she died after a long battle with the legislature.” Medically she died from kidney failure.

The obituary also stated that “Peg reminds you that you need to vote in the upcoming May 3 election” and that she had grave concerns over Republican foot-dragging and legal wrangling by Democratic voting rights groups.

The article did not mention whether Peg Rosenfield was registered as a Republican or a Democrat but only that it didn’t matter what method of voting you may choose. Just do it.

Mrs. Rosenfield was one smart lady.
