A two-vehicle crash on Evans City Road near the Butler County Humane Society on Thursday resulted in the driver of a Toyota Prius being sent to the hospital for evaluation. CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A two-vehicle crash around 12:23 p.m. Thursday on the 1000 block of Evans City Road sent one person to the hospital and left both vehicles off the road, with one in a ditch and the other on its side.

The driver of a Toyota Prius was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for evaluation, according to state police investigating at the scene.

Police said witnesses saw the westbound Prius partially veer off the road, and then over-correct into the path of an oncoming commercial van.

Following the collision, both vehicles came to a stop on the eastbound side of the road with the van on its side and the Prius in a ditch. Firefighters restricted traffic to one alternating lane while the vehicles and debris were cleared from the scene.

Tow trucks arrived to remove the vehicles around 1:20 p.m. Butler Township and Connoquenessing firefighters assisted at the scene, along with Butler Ambulance Service.
