Rita Shelton
Rita M. Shelton, 98, of Sarver passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at her home.
Born Dec. 6, 1923, in Sarver, she was the daughter of Charles W. Mason and Myrtle Kelly Mason.
Rita retired as a assistant manager for the Joseph Horne Co. retiring after 32 years. Prior to that, she had worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C., and the Deshon Army Hospital in Butler. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Church in Cabot, where she had been a member of the Christian Mothers; the Saxonburg American Legion; and a volunteer at the Butler VA Medical Center, formerly the Deshon Army Hospital. Rita enjoyed bowling, card parties, all church activities, bingo, reading, crocheting and collecting antiques.
Surviving are her children, Dennis (Judy) Shelton of Cabot, Marianne Schmeider of Cabot and Nancy Rob of Henrico, Va.; two brothers, Lee (Mary) Mason of Saxonburg and Bill (Beverly) Mason of Leechburg; her sister, Rosemary (Don) Heilbrun of Anaheim, Calif.; five grandchildren, Dena (Mike), Robert, Tamy (Richard), Johnny and Sydnie; six great-grandchildren, Jenna, Samantha, Abigail, Kaila, Killian and Keira.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Shelton; two brothers, Bob Mason and Tom Mason; and two sisters, Delores Kunselman and Ann Krings.
SHELTON — Friends of Rita M. Shelton, who died Sunday, March 27, 2022, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish-St. Joseph Church.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot, PA 16023, the Alzheimers Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
