Butler County Drug Task Force

March 29 — Damian Alexander Smith, 37, of Butler was charged with a felony count of controlled substance contraband after he was allegedly found with two bundles with 20 stamp bags marked “RAM” containing suspected drugs and another 19 bags with the same marking inside the Butler County Prison.

He was taken to the jail after a probation officer contacted the task force saying Smith was detained at his place of employment in Jefferson Township and allegedly possessing of three stamp bags and a needle. At the prison, Smith denied having any other contraband, but a correction officers patted him down and found the two bundles. After Smith was placed in a holding cell, prison staff was notified by Beaver County deputy sheriffs that an inmate they were transporting told them Smith was in possession of more drugs. Officers conducted a unclothed search and allegedly found a plastic bag containing the 19 stamp bags, but Smith put the bag in his mouth. Officers used a Taser to apply a stun charge and Smith eventually spit the bag out.

Butler Township

March 31 — Nahzier Muhammad, 23, of Washington was charged with terroristic threats and unlawful possession of a firearm for allegedly threatening a man with a gun within his reach at home on Bessemer Avenue in Lyndora.

March 17 — Alexander Hamilton, 21, of Butler was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and Aaron Wiemelt, 32, of Butler and Patience Hamilton, 22, of Butler were cited for disorderly conduct in connection with a road rage incident that took place on New Castle Road. Police said Hamilton allegedly punched the door of a vehicle.

March 30 — Police investigated a three-vehicle accident on Route 356 at Point Plaza involving vehicles driven by Mishell Potter, 57, of Butler; Kevin Morrissey, 49, of Greer, S.C.; and Abigal Granato, 19, of New Castle. Potter was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after complaining about pain. All the vehicles were driven from the scene with minor or moderate damages.

March 31 — Police investigated a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hansen Avenue and Route 8 involving vehicles driven by Jeffrey McCullough, 54, of Chicora; Carole Bitter, 76, of Butler; and Joyce Janicki, 61, of Butler. One person had a minor injury, but declined medical treatment. McCullough’s vehicle had heavy front end damage and was towed.
