I-79 crash seriously injures 2 drivers
A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 on Tuesday sent both drivers to the hospital with major injuries, according to a release from state police.
The collision just after 4 p.m. near mile-maker 91 in Lancaster Township caused significant damage to both vehicles, according to the release.
In the release from investigating officer Trooper David Wellington, “for unknown reasons a southbound vehicle entered the center median and entered northbound lanes.”
One driver was identified as a member of the Beaver County local police.
One of the drivers was transported by EMS to a Pittsburgh hospital, and the second driver was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, according to the release.
Traffic restrictions are still in place as of 10 p.m. as the site is an active crash investigation site.
