South Butler approves new domain names, promotes principal
JEFFERSON TWP – In continuing preparation to change names, the South Butler County School District school board Wednesday approved four new domain names to reflect the Knoch School District name that will take effect sometime after July 1.
The board approved knochsd.org, ksdlibrary.net, knochsd.net and knochstudent.net at the meeting.
Superintendent David Foley said the new domain names were purchased for less than $100 apiece.
He said a transition period will occur when the district website's name changes.
At that time, anyone who types the current domain name, southbutler.org, into a browser will see the new Knoch domain name pop up on the website.
Foley said the district website will look the same, but will carry the Knoch name.
The board also approved the purchase of 17 whiteboard overlays for $4,500.
Foley said the overlays are a special film that is placed over a classroom's chalkboard so the surface can be used by teachers and students as a whiteboard.
The overlays will be used in the elementary, intermediate elementary, middle and high schools.
The board also approved Kim Fitzgerald as principal at South Butler Intermediate Elementary School at a salary of $100,000.
Fitzgerald is the assistant principal at Knoch Middle School, where she was named 2021 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Pennsylvania Principals Association.
She will move to the intermediate elementary school on July 1.
The board also approved the hiring of Paul Hoffman as a technical education teacher at a salary of $46,210.
Foley said there are very few teachers available with a “tech ed” certificate.
“We are lucky to have him,” he said.
Hoffman will start at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.
