M. Colleen Benson, 70, of Chicora, formerly of North Washington, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 27, 1952, in Butler, Colleen was the daughter of the late James Slater and the late Frances (Bowser) Slater.

Colleen was a member of the North Washington Presbyterian Church, and also was a member of the North Washington VFD.

She was employed at Servistar and USIS.

She enjoyed playing softball and was active in adult softball leagues in her earlier years.

Colleen is survived by two sons, Michael (Danielle) Benson, of Waynesburg, and Brian Benson (Charmaine), of Hooker; two grandsons, Parker and Matthew; one brother, Russell Slater, of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, John L. “Benny” Benson, who passed away April 7, 2017; and one brother, James Slater.

BENSON — Family and friends of M. Colleen Benson, who died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.

Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
