Cranberry Twp man accused of stabbing father
A Cranberry Township man has been charged with attempted homicide after stabbing his father, according to charges filed Tuesday.
“He admitted it was an unprovoked action, and his intent was to kill his father,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
Adams Township Police arrested Richard J. Myers, 31, on Monday from his father’s home in their jurisdiction, after which they filed charges including felony counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
Myers’ father survived the stabbing, but his condition is currently unknown.
Following Myers’ arraignment Tuesday morning by District Judge Kevin O’Donnell, he was placed in Butler County Prison without bond.
On court documents, O’Donnell said Myers presented a “threat to the victim’s family and the community” as the reason.
