One person died in Summit Twp. trailer fire

SUMMIT TWP -- One person died in a trailer fire in the Rustic Ridge mobile home park early Saturday morning.

Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bryan Powell said his department was called to a home on Jodi Lane at 5:30 a.m. by a neighbor.

The occupant of the trailer, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was found in the trailer’s living room when firefighters entered.

Powell said, “The fire was in the living room of the home. When we arrived on the scene, it was in a smoldering state because insulation fell out of the ceiling and smothered the fire.”

The coroner’s office was called to the scene, and the state police fire marshal was notified.

Powell said his department was joined by departments from East Butler, Herman, Butler and the East Butler Ambulance Service.

Powell said there was no damage to neighboring trailers. A cat also died in the fire.
