Summit Twp. fire victim identified
The victim of a fire early Saturday in Summit Township has been identified.
Coroner William F. Young III said Monday morning that Judith Straney, 80, likely died of smoke inhalation when her mobile home on Jodi Lane caught fire. A neighbor reported the fire shortly before 5:30 a.m.
He said firefighters were able to remove Straney from the smoldering mobile home, which is in the Rustic Ridge mobile home park along East Butler Road.
Young said Straney, who was in a wheelchair, was deceased by the time firefighters brought her out of the home.
He was not aware of whether Straney used oxygen at home.
Young said Straney lived alone.
A cause of the fire has not been released by state police.
