Minor injuries and halted traffic come from Butler crash
One woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning at the intersection of South Main and Cunningham streets.
Butler County 911 dispatchers around 8:50 a.m. sent emergency crews to the scene, where a white Jeep and gray Nissan sedan collided near the middle of the intersection. The driver’s side front fender of the Jeep was locked into the Nissan’s passenger-side doors.
From the Nissan driver’s seat, firefighters helped a conscious woman with bandages on her head to her feet, then laid her on a stretcher and loaded her into the back of an ambulance.
The driver was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Jeep appeared uninjured while talking with city police and firefighters.
Officers directed traffic around the vehicles which blocked the southbound lane. Most traffic was diverted to Cunningham Street.
The first tow truck arrived around 9:10 a.m., but the driver struggled to pull the two vehicles apart. He said the vehicles were “locked” together. A second truck arrived, and the two drove in opposing directions to wrench the vehicles apart.
Traffic resumed around 9:30 a.m.
Details about how the crash happened were not immediately available.
