Marlene McCloskey
Marlene Bures Kradel McCloskey, 85, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 18, 1936, in Freeport, she was the daughter of the late James Bures and Hazel (Powell) Bures.
Marlene was a 1954 graduate of Freeport Area High School, and later attended Butler County Community College, where she earned her associate degree in applied science and executive secretary. She was employed by Du-Co Ceramics, PPG, Bobbie Brooks, and retired from the Butler County Assistance Office.
Marlene enjoyed reading, crafting, traveling, the Steelers and music. When she was a young woman, she sang gospel in the church, played accordion, guitar and piano, and had an amazing voice and an overall love for music. She also had a band in the 1970s, “Marlene Kaye and the Country Gold,” gigging throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Marlene is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Kradel of Berkley, Calif., Amy Kradel of Cabot, and Jody Kradel Semmelroth of Butler; a stepdaughter, Nicole McQueen of Clayton, N.C.; six grandchildren, Michelle, Brittany, Erik, Tyler, Olivia and Emily; two stepgrandchildren, Gage and Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Addison, Joey, Gunner, Mikey and Avery; her stepsister, Wanda Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, William McCloskey, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1980, and who passed away on Feb. 9, 2014; her daughter, Judy Christy; two stepsons, Billy and Kevin McCloskey; two stepdaughters, Sharon McCloskey and Vicki Adams; two brothers, James and Bill Bures; and her grandson, Michael Ball.
MCCLOSKEY — All are invited to attend a visitation for Marlene Bures Kradel McCloskey, who died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, to be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Phillips officiating.
Interment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
