State police ID those involved in Friday night Forward Twp. crash
State police have identified those involved in the Friday night two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Evans City Road and Old Route 68 in Forward Township.
When emergency responders arrived shortly after 9:45 p.m. at the scene they found a white SUV in a ravine alongside the road and a red SUV on the road.
In a news release Monday, state police identified Michael M. Maloney, 19, of Wexford, as the driver of the white SUV.
Police said Maloney and the driver of the red SUV, Michelle L. Alexander, 42, of Monaca, were both traveling east. Police said Alexander was in the process of turning left onto Old Route 68 when Maloney’s vehicle hit hers.
“(Maloney’s vehicle) then left the roadway where it struck a guide rail and overturned down an embankment,” police said.
Firefighters helped pull Maloney and three others from the vehicle, police said. They used rope to help bring them back to the road for transport.
Maloney had three passengers with him, Anthony M. Recker, 18, of Homestead, James T. Maloney, 20, of Wexford, and a teenage girl.
All four people from the white SUV were taken to the hospital. Both Recker and the girl were noted to have suspected serious injuries. Maloney and another passenger had injuries of unknown severity.
According to authorities, two people were flown from the scene to Pittsburgh hospitals for treatment. The police report does not indicate who was taken by which mode.
Firefighters also had to help Alexander get free from her vehicle. According to police, Alexander was taken by ambulance for a suspected minor injury.
Authorities remained on the scene for almost three hours until the vehicle could be towed and the road cleared of debris.
