Taco Bell, McDonald’s get final approval
BUTLER TWP — The commissioners gave final approval Monday for a Taco Bell restaurant to be constructed in Greater Butler Mart, and for the McDonald’s currently located in the plaza to be destroyed and rebuilt larger in a slightly different spot in the mart, pending a contingency.
Commission President Dave Zarnick said the developers of the two companies need to sign a developer’s agreement with the owners of the Greater Butler Mart, because the construction of both buildings will impact one another.
The Butler Township Planning Commission heard from the developers of both properties at a meeting May 3.
According to the engineer of Taco Bell’s project, Dave Neill of the EADS Group, the restaurant is slated to be about 2,500 square feet and have 50 seats and a drive-through window. He said traffic would enter the Taco Bell mainly by Litman Road.
Neill said Monday that construction on the Taco Bell could begin in late-June to early-July, and construction time is estimated to be about 120 days.
Michael Takacs, associate with the civil engineering company Bohler, said the McDonald’s would be moved northeast of its current location, and will be about 400 square feet larger.
Work could begin on demolishing the current McDonald’s and building the new one as soon as July, Takacs said at the planning commission meeting. The downtime between the closing of the current location and the completion of the new one is estimated to be between 110 and 120 days, according to Takacs.
