Bonner receives support

Butler County voters showed support for Rep.Tim Bonner, despite his running completely unopposed for the 17th House District.

Bonner, who represents the current version of the 8th District, is a Pine Township, Mercer County, resident. He has neither Democratic nor Republican opposition for the 17th District seat, a byproduct of the state's redistricting.

In Butler County, 2,562 voters cast their ballot for Bonner. There were also 17 write-ins.

The district consists of Butler County's Allegheny, Cherry, Concord, Fairview, Marion, Mercer, Parker, Slippery Rock, Venango and Washington townships, as well as Bruin, Cherry Valley, Eau Claire, Fairview, Harrisville, Karns City, Petrolia and Slippery Rock boroughs.

The district also includes Mercer County, where Bonner received 5,928 votes. There were also 19 write-ins.

Bonner will be the sole candidate on the ballot in the general election in November.
