Butler Twp

May 9 — Colin S. Kelly, 41, of Butler, was charged with a felony driving while under the influence following an investigation into a Feb. 25 vehicle crash on New Castle Road. Police said Kelly crashed his vehicle into a large wooden real estate sign. Police said Kelly refused to get out of the vehicle, kept the doors locked and continued huffing a solvent as they asked him to exit. Police said Kelly later refused to have his blood tested.

8:01 a.m. May 9 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Greenwood Drive near Route 3007. Police said Lauranne Small, 59, of Kittanning, pulled out in front of a vehicle driven by Francine Keefer, 67, of Butler. Police said Keefer was taken by ambulance for treatment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

State Police, Butler

May 6 — Michal G. Roush, 33, of Ford City, was charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of false statements made during an attempt to buy a gun April 8 from Curt’s Black Powder Shop, Clearfield Township. Police said Roush was denied the gun, and he failed to note his mental health history on the forms.

May 6 — Nathaniel B. Hill, 23, of Great Mills, Md., was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to a report the same day by a Slippery Rock Township resident. The resident claimed HIll threw her into a door, punched her in the face and broke a screen as he left her home.

12:09 a.m. May 3 — Mark A. Johnson, 64, of Butler, was arrested and charged with felony drug sales, as well as misdemeanor counts of DUI, marijuana possession, drug possession and drug paraphernalia possession, related to a report of a disabled vehicle at the intersection of Freeport and Lindsay roads, Summit Township.

Police said they found Johnson in the driver’s seat, nodding in and out of consciousness. Field sobriety tests showed Johnson was impaired. Police later searched the vehicle with Johnson’s permission and said they found suspected crack cocaine, 8 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 8 grams of suspected powder cocaine and 8 grams of suspected marijuana.

Police said Johnson later submitted to blood tests. The results were not available in the affidavit.

SRU

May 9 — Christian A. Evans, 18, of Newton Falls, Ohio, was charged with one misdemeanor count DUI, one misdemeanor count of drug paraphernalia possession, four misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and three misdemeanor counts of giving alcohol to minors related to an April 30 traffic stop on Kiester Road, Slippery Rock Township.

Police said they stopped the vehicle for tailgating another vehicle and for lacking a license plate light. Field sobriety tests showed Evans was impaired. Police also tested the breath of all five of the passengers in Evans’ car, who were minors. Three of the minors tested positive for alcohol on their breath. Evans later refused to have his blood tested.
