Blauser 3-time winner in D-9 track
BROOKVILLE - Baylee Blauser was determined to reverse her fortunes at the District 9 Class 2A track and field championship meet.
Did she ever.
A year ago, Blauser was favored to win a district crown in both the long and triple jumps, but a sprained ankle kept her out of the triple jump competition and severely held her back in the long jump, in which she managed a leap more than two feet shorter than what she was capable of.
Friday, the senior was healthy and earned three wins at Brookville High School, taking both jumps and the 100-meter dash.
“It feels amazing,” Blauser said after her final win of the day in the triple jump, achieved with a distance of 37 feet, six inches. “I’m really happy I was able to come in here and show what I can do. I knew I had it in me to win both jumps. That was my goal.”
The 100 dash was another story. Blauser beat out Cranberry’s Laiyla Russell by .07 seconds to win that title.
