BC3 closed Friday due to threat; later determined not credible
Butler County Community College closed its main campus in Butler Township on Friday morning after college officials were made aware of a threat that law enforcement authorities later deemed was not credible.
Neither students nor most BC3 employees were scheduled to be on BC3’s main campus Friday, according to news release from college officials. In-person credit classes this week were held Monday through Thursday.
Most BC3 employees were operating under a previously scheduled work week that ended Thursday, leaving only essential employees on BC3’s main campus Friday.
Several BC3 employees Friday morning received the threat sent by email and notified college officials, who initiated an emergency response, the new release said. College officials contacted law enforcement authorities, who determined the threat was not credible.
The college will resume regular operations Monday.
