An Apollo woman fleeing police in her vehicle died from her injuries after her car crashed Sunday night in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County, police said.

A state trooper pulled the woman from her burning car, Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said in a news release.

Despite the trooper’s actions, Madison Sapinsky, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 7:50 p.m. on Margaret Road, Myers said.

Myers said Sapinsky had been driving at a “high rate of speed” before her vehicle left the road and hit a tree. He said an autopsy will be performed, but results of it and toxicology will likely take weeks to conclude.
