State police have identified an Ohio man who was found dead from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said Frederick Orr, 32, of Columbus, Ohio, was found around 3:30 a.m. along Kelly Road, which spans a little less than two miles between East Portersville and Yellow Creek roads.

“His death is currently being investigated as a homicide,” said state police in a news release. “The investigation is pending autopsy and is currently ongoing.”

On Saturday, Butler County Coroner Bill Young said Orr had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Young said it appeared as though the body was dumped.

After police and EMTs were called to the scene, authorities continued investigating in the area for more than three hours.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the state police barracks at 724-284-8100.
