Longtime Butler florist closing next month
A sweet-smelling and well-respected downtown Butler business will close on July 31.
Ed Bloom said while operating Bortmas, The Butler Florist has been an honor for the last 42 years, the 75- to 80-hour workweeks must come to an end.
“I just think it’s time,” said Bloom, who bought the business from the late Lee Bortmas at age 19 with the help of his parents, the late Beryl and Arno Bloom.
Bloom will honor all the weddings he committed to this summer, but the shop on West Wayne Street will lock up for the last time at the end of next month.
