Highlights of Know & Glow camp out include fireflies, native rock shelter
The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival is hosting its second annual Glow & Know camp out at Camp Lutherlyn in Connoquenessing Township this weekend.
The camp out begins at 1 p.m. Saturday and ends Sunday morning. Space is limited and the camp is sold out.
Afternoon activities will include an auto tour of local glacial landscapes, a short hike to a Rock shelter used by Native Americans with artifacts dated to 11,000 BCE, and a hike to explore a section of the Venango Trail on Camp Lutherlyn property.
A viewing of the synchronous firefly on camp property will be the evening’s featured event. Males of the species can synchronize their multi-flash signal between many individuals, creating a unique nature experience.
