Harmony Fire District to host open house
Harmony Volunteer Fire District will host an open house from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, including a mock vehicle extrication, extinguisher simulation and obstacle course.
The event, which will occur at the district’s station, 543 Main Street, will feature Cranberry Township’s fire safety trailer, a bounce house obstacle course and fire safety pamphlets for children and families.
At 7:30 p.m., the fire district will also perform a “live vehicle extraction.” During the extraction, fire Chief Scott Garing will explain what occurs during such an emergency, including the purposes of different tools, equipment and procedures, among other topics.
In addition, the fire district plans to provide free smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, as well as children’s fire helmets.
Food and drinks will also be provided.
