PENN TWP — Two of three people injured in a Sunday afternoon vehicle crash on Brownsdale Road were flown by medical helicopters.

Emergency crews were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Brownsdale Road for a two-vehicle, head-on crash. Emergency crews quickly blocked all traffic around the incident while evaluating two people in a Toyota Highlander and one person in a Jeep Patriot.

Both vehicle showed heavy front-end damage. Police said all involved wore seat belts, and airbags in both vehicles deployed.

Emergency crews had to remove a woman from the front-passenger seat of the Toyota, and both she and the 17-year-old boy driver of the Jeep were taken to Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport, where they were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals.

The third person, a man who was driving the Toyota was taken by ambulance.

Crews began clearing the scene around 4 p.m.
