Rainy Tuesday morning the first of more to come

The dry spell has come to an end as Butler County sees rain Tuesday with more to come throughout the week, according to experts.

Thunderstorms hit the county around 9 a.m., and the act of Mother Nature prompted a few calls to emergency dispatchers.

As of 9:35 a.m., there has been one call for a tree down on wires and two calls for lightning strikes. None of the calls to Butler County 911 reported any injuries.

As of 9:45 a.m., the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh has not placed any advisories into effect, but a hazardous weather outlook is in place warning of inclement possibilities.

“Severe thunderstorms remain possible today, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours,” said the weather service on Twitter. “Damaging wind is the primary threat with the storms, but some isolated instances of large hail or even a brief tornado are also possible.”

According to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, Tuesday marks the first of four days with expected rain.

The forecast said rains are expected to continue through the afternoon, then wane in the evening. Rain and thunderstorms are expected again after 3 p.m. Wednesday and continuing into Wednesday night.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are again predicted throughout the day Thursday and Friday, before mostly sunny weather predicted Saturday.
