Michael “Scott” Abbott, 60, of Butler, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, surrounded by family after battling lung cancer.

Born April 17, 1962, in Butler, he was the son of Richard E. Abbott Sr. and Sharon J. (Martin) Abbott.

Scott was employed as a maintenance technician at ARMCO where he retired after more than 30 years of employment. Scott enjoyed many outdoor adventures over the years with family and friends. He loved planting his garden from seeds. He was mechanically minded and able to fix anything. He enjoyed working on motorcycles, building trucks and constructing houses from the frame up. Scott loved working and being a “moto dad” at Switchback Racetrack. He was especially active with his children over the years, spending time hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, going to concerts and hockey games, just to name a few. Scotty will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Scott leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 38 years, Deborah J. (Henderson) Abbott, whom he married March 22, 1984; his children, Tina M. Abbott and Shane M. Abbott, both of Butler; his parents, Richard (“Dick”) and Sharon Abbott of Butler; his siblings, Rick Abbott, Tracy (John) Carben and Bob (Kelley) Abbott, all of Butler; and his niece and nephews, Eric Abbott and Zach Carben, both of Florida, Megan Dirlam of Mars and Brandon Abbott of Butler.

ABBOTT — A celebration of life service for Michael “Scott” Abbott, who died Saturday, July 2, 2022, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Stables of Connoquenessing, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew. Please dress casually like you were hanging out in the garage with Scotty.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
