Humidity, heat precedes county showers

With temperatures rising, it isn’t surprising that showers will likely grace the county this week, according to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh.

Along with today’s high of 87 degrees, humidity rests at 62%. According to a meteorologist at the service, dew points are expected to drop in the coming days.

“The heat index is high, but it could be worse,” he said. “(Tuesday) will be in the lower 80s with possible rain overnight. Wednesday is a high of 80 and lows of 60 degrees.”

A 60% chance of precipitation is the forecast for tonight, with rain accumulation at a tenth of an inch or less.

There’s a higher chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday and into Thursday, which will bring humidity down significantly, the meteorologist said.

“There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms, but nothing severe,” according to the service meteorologist. “As the front crosses, it’s gonna feel sticky tomorrow, but be more comfortable on the back end of the front with lower 50s for the dew point.”

The rain is expected to die down Wednesday night, leaving the rest of the week bright and balmy with sunny skies and 80 degree highs.
