Chamber dinner features new award
In addition to honoring a successful entrepreneur and outstanding business, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce will present a new award in tribute to a long-time chamber leader.
Receiving the inaugural Stan Kosciuszko Leadership Excellence Award will be Nick Neupauer, president of Butler County Community College.
Kosciuszko, who started as chamber president in 2002, retired in February.
The award will be presented by the Leadership of Butler County board.
“The board of directors wanted to honor (Kosciuszko) in some way,” said Jordan Grady, president of the chamber. “The award goes to a Leadership Butler County alumni who’s shown tremendous impact and skill in their leadership role.”
Kosciuszko, chairman of the dinner committee, said the event Sept. 7 is attended by chamber members and local business leaders.
“This event has been happening for 20 years or more,” he said. “It’s to commemorate what (was) accomplished over the year.”
The William A. Morgan Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be bestowed upon Jeff Double of All About Reclaimed during the dinner. Kosciuszko said the honoree is chosen by a collective vote of past winners.
“The person who wins this award can’t have inherited the business, or purchased or married into the business,” he said.
Grady said Double stood out to the board because of his community involvement.
“He donates decor to various charitable functions,” Grady said. “What also stood out was his story. Working retail by day and building his business at night until it became his job, which is every entrepreneur’s goal.”
Glade Run Lutheran Services will be awarded the David L. Lloyd Memorial Chamber Business Champion for upholding the pillars of community involvement and impact and exceptional organizational culture, he said.
“They’re a large employer in our county, and employees say it’s a family-like work environment,” Grady said. “As far as growth, they’ve expanded their services they offer and show they want to continue to invest in this place we call home.”
The dinner is being held at the Robert Smith Student Center on Slippery Rock University campus Sept. 7. Tickets are limited and will be available for purchase Monday at butlercountychamber.com.
