Dog dies in attack, shot fired
Butler City police have completed its investigation into a fight between dogs that resulted in one dog’s death and included a bystander who fired a gun in attempt to stop it.
Police issued a news release Wednesday about the July 5 incident.
Police said an unleashed dog owned by James Fleeger attacked a leashed dog owned by Melissa Ofchinick around 4 p.m. as Ofchinick walked hers at the intersection of North McKean and East Pearl streets. Police said the attack was unprovoked.
“The dog that was being walked on the leash (owned by Ofchinick) died as a result of the attack,” police said.
