Transit Authority preparing for new bus
A new bus will soon be on its way.
The Butler Transit Authority voted Thursday to have its new MCI coach bus, which will round out its commuter service fleet, inspected by First Transit for $9,245. John Paul, transit authority executive director, said First Transit has performed other bus inspections for the authority.
The bus will go on the assembly line next week, according to Paul, but he said he is not sure when it will be finished yet.
"It would be nice if it was before Sept. 13," Paul said.
The coach bus cost the transit authority $798,899. The bus is being paid for in full with the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act funds the transit authority received.
Paul said the new bus will bring the transit authority to the proper bus ratio of four active buses and two in reserve.
Paul also gave a ridership update to the board members, and said the service provided 13,081 local trips in June, an increase of about 1,900 since last year.
The commuter service, which operates between Butler and Pittsburgh, provided 1,107 rides, an increase of 380 compared to last year.
