Mars Rumble car show to shake up downtown Mars

Custom car enthusiasts won’t have to go far on July 30 to see unique vehicles on display in Mars.

The free Mars Rumble car show, returning for its third year, is poised to bring an expected 1,500 vehicles and 4,000 visitors into downtown Mars from 3 to 9 p.m.

John Podolak, organizer of the event and owner of After Hours Tattoo Studio, said he expects a high turnout this year.

“It's going to be pretty big, we opened up some new parking lots this year to accommodate some of the overflow,” he said. “We are accepting donations this year, but everything is free. The donations actually go to us to help us put on the show.”

Pre-registration is not required, but those interested in showing off their own custom cars should arrive at noon in downtown Mars, Podolak said. Visitors who are not showing cars can park at the Mars Area High School or at the Vogel Disposal parking lot and take a shuttle into town.

The event has a carnival theme this year and will feature food trucks, breweries, and circus-themed activities and performances alongside the cars. A dunk tank featuring members of the Adams Area Fire District and Butler County Emergency Services Unit will be set up at the event with proceeds benefiting both organizations.

“This is a show you don’t want to miss, especially if you’re into cars, and you’d enjoy seeing unique vehicles that you do not see everyday at your average car show,” Podolak said.

Builders and custom car fans from as far as North Carolina and New Jersey have attended the event in past years, he added.

“The whole town will be shut down,” Podolak said. “It will be all hot rods and cars in town.”
