Single lane traffic will affect Route 68 this week
An paving project on Route 68 between Meridian Road and New Castle Road will reduce nighttime traffic to one lane this week.
The state Department of Transportation announced the that project began on Monday and will wrap up Friday, weather permitting.
Flaggers will control single, alternating lanes in the area of the work.
Contractor A. Folino Construction of Oakmont, Allegheny County will mill and pave Route 68 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The stretch of roadway will be milled and the first layer of asphalt applied to level the surface.
Folino workers will return at a later date to place a finishing layer.
PennDOT said motorists should be cautious in the area this week and expect delays.
