State police trying to ID two people linked to burglary
State police said they are asking for public assistance in identifying two people spotted Wednesday near the scene of a reported burglary at an “abandoned school.”
State police said they believe three males broke into the old Portersville Elementary School, 165 E. Portersville Road, and ransacked it.
Police said nothing appeared to be stolen from the building, which has sat empty since the mid-1990s when its closure, along with Franklin Elementary School, fostered the birth of Moraine Elementary School, which currently operates as part of Slippery Rock Area School District.
“They loitered outside for a period of time and then entered through a window,” said the investigating trooper. “They removed the plywood covering and then broke the window to gain entry.”
Trooper Josh Black released a photograph of the two people who appear to be young men or teenage boys.
In the released image, both males are white. One is wearing a green and white ball cap, gray T-shirt and black athletic shorts, while the other male is wearing an all-white ball cap, pinkish shirt and gray athletic shorts.
Police said anyone with information about the two depicted should call the barracks at 724-284-8100.
