Nick E. Protos

Protos

The Rev. Dr. Nick E. Protos, 72, of Cranberry Township, was called home to his Lord and Savior after a valiant six-year battle with multiple myeloma on Aug. 3, 2022. He will be greatly missed by Linda, who had been his best friend since childhood and beloved wife for 51 years; and by their children, Nikki Lynn (Kevin) Hagen and Timothy (Amy) Protos; and their six grandchildren, Sara Nicole, Samuel, Mackenzie, Abby, Nick Emanuel and Mark. Nick was a caring husband, dad and papa, who loved his wife, kids and grandkids unconditionally.

Born in Sharon, Pa., on Aug. 15, 1949, Nick was the son of the late Emanuel and Anna Skouloudis Protos.

He was the much-loved brother of John (Betty) Protos and Carol Gill; son in-law of Rose Wellendorf; brother in-law of Pastor David and Janet Searle, and Ken and Bonnie Wellendorf; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Nick cherished spending time with his immediate and extended family.

Nick was an avid reader and lifelong learner. After graduating from Sharon High School, he attended Youngstown State University, earning his degree in education. When he was called to ministry in 1971, Nick attended Temple Baptist Theology Seminary and received his Master of Divinity. Finally, he earned his Doctor of Ministry in applied theology from Covenant Theological Seminary.

He faithfully served the Lord as a PCA pastor for 10 years at View Crest Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, Pa.; five years at Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, Carmichaels, Pa.; and 26 years at Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Valencia, until he retired in 2019.

Nick was a generous, selfless and humble man, who had a tremendous love for his family. And, above all else, he loved God. His life was spent demonstrating and sharing Christ’s love with everyone he met, even in his final days.
