A Valencia man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after two pickup trucks crashed around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Morgan and Dinnerbell roads, Penn Township.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 10:37 p.m. Shortly after the call, dispatchers reported at least one person was injured and trapped in a vehicle.

According to Penn Township police, Anthony Barton, 51, was taken by ambulance to the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport, then flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

The other driver, Hanna Goldscheitter, 22, of Sarver, suffered a minor injury that did not need treatment, according to officials.

Cpl. Jack Ripper, who investigated the crash, said leading up to the collision Goldscheitter was driving east on Dinnerbell Road in a Dodge Ram 2500 and Barton had been on Morgan Road in a Ford Ranger.

“He pulled out in front of her,” Ripper said.

Ripper could not confirm whether Barton was trapped in his vehicle.

“He was still in the vehicle when I arrived,” Ripper said.

According to Ripper, both vehicles were towed from the scene. Barton’s truck featured heavy damage to the passenger side, while Goldscheitter’s had heavy front-end damage.

Ripper said he confirmed Goldscheitter was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it’s possible Barton may not have been wearing one.

Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene, which cleared at 11:45 p.m.
