Allegheny County man sought on assault, strangulation charges

An Oakmont man is at large after he allegedly strangled and beat his girlfriend at her Adams Township home, stole her mother’s car and fled, according to police.

“Due to her injuries, (the girlfriend) was transported to a region trauma center,” according to an Adams Township Police affidavit.

Austin S. Williams, 28, is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault, strangulation and theft, as well as misdemeanor simple assault related to the alleged incident Sunday. Police were dispatched at 1:19 p.m.

Williams has yet to be arrested, according to court documents. According to police, the vehicle he allegedly fled in was found in Connellsville.

Williams is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. Anyone who sees Williams or has information regarding his whereabouts is warned not to approach him and to call 911.

According to the affidavit, Adams Township Police were called to the girlfriend’s home, where family directed them to a back room.

“Upon walking into the bedroom, it was immediately apparent (she) had severe facial injuries,” police said. “(She) had extreme difficulty talking to officers with her jaw in severe discomfort.”

Police said the woman had cuts, bruises and swelling across much of her face. Officers said she also had “distinct red marks” around her neck and throat.

“(The woman) stated this was an unprovoked attack while she was asleep in bed with her son,” police said.

The woman told officers Williams had first choked her in the bed, then dragged her off of it and began punching her in the face repeatedly.

Police said that after the altercation Williams stole the woman’s mother’s vehicle, a 2002 gold Hyundai.

“Williams did not have permission to drive the vehicle, nor does he have a valid driver’s license,” police said.

Police said they later talked with Williams by phone, during which he admitted to beating the woman.

Following his arrest, Williams will be arraigned on the charges before a district judge, issued a bond and then scheduled for a preliminary hearing.
