1 killed in accident Friday night
One man was killed and a second man injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles at 11:31 p.m. Friday just north of 1115 W. Sunbury Road.
According to state police, a southbound Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling south when for unknown reasons the vehicle crossed the double yellow line and hit a northbound Ford 150 truck.
The driver of the Santa Fe was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Bill Young who ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma. The identity of the fatality, a 92-year-old man, is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the truck was taken by Life Flight to Allegheny General Hospital.
State police said they are not investigating the accident as a DUI.
Responding units included the Butler Ambulance Service, the Unionville Fire Department, the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Pennsylvania State Police. The scene was reported cleared at approximately 3 a.m.
