TIME CAPSULE: Main Street looks mighty different for Butler residents in this photo from September 1968, and it likely looks different for a lot of our readers, too. Riders in this photo got a view of Cunningham and Main ‘from the top’ when this double-decker London Transport omnibus visited Butler. The open air vehicle carted citizens for one day only, traveling to Pennsylvania with the help of Trans World Airlines and various travel agencies. The omnibus was used to promote travel to Europe, but Eagle photographer John Bowman remarked in his caption that the bus should be kept and used for local parade and crash photography. By the time of publication, the omnibus was en route back across the ocean. This photo was reprinted in the Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, edition of the Butler Eagle. Butler Eagle file photo
