BC3 volleyball wins handily

Morgan Jack had 24 assists and Breanna Reisinger seven kills as the Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over Penn State Shenango over the weekend.

Match scores were 25-10, 25-10, 25-16.

Aslyn Pry tallied six kills and seven aces, Claire Kile four kills and three blocks, Madison Raypush 18 digs. The Pioneers (2-0, 5-1) host Penn State New Kensington at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Golf

Troy Loughry was medalist with a 2-under par 70 Friday as Butler County Community College defeated Westmoreland CCC, 296-350.

Liam Kosior carded as 73, Knoch graduate Cory Voltz a 74, Freeport graduate Jack Mason a 79 and Tanner Hohmann a 91. The Pioneers’ next match is Friday at North Park.

Men’s Soccer

Arturo Pla Hernandis scored his second goal of the season Saturday as Slippery Rock tied Shepherd, 1-1, at James Egli Field. Rock goalkeeper Hossam Aly made four saves,.

Now 1-2-1 on the season, SRU hosts the District of Columbia at noon Saturday.

Women’s Soccer

Slippery Rock played Seton Hill to a scoreless draw Saturday at James Egli Field. Emma Yoder picked up her second shutout of the season, making five saves.

Now 1-1-2 overall, SRU hosts Indiana (Pa.) at 4 p.m. Tuesday in its Suicide Awareness Game.

Women’s Volleyball

Slippery Rock split a pair of matches at the Shark Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. After defeating Shaw in four sets, SRU dropped a 3-0 decision to nationally-ranked Nova Southeastern.

Erica Selfridge had 17 kills, three aces and 18 digs over the two matches. Abigail Koeller had 11 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Now 2-5, SRU plays Notre Dame (Ohio) and West Liberty Friday in West Virginia.
