One dead in weekend crash in Mercer County

One person died Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Delaware Township, Mercer County.

In a news release, state police said Michael Miller, 32, of Greenville, suffered fatal injuries. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police responded to the crash, which happened around 11:40 p.m. on Mercer Road, just north of Line Road.

Police said Miller was driving north in a 2012 Ford Taurus when he entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 1998 GMC K1500 driven by Lily Black, 26, of Fredonia, Mercer County.

“(Black’s truck) spun around and overturned, coming to rest in the ditch on the passenger side facing east,” police said. “(Miller’s car) continued north rolling over and coming to rest in the ditch on the driver’s side of the vehicle facing south.”

Police said Black suffered suspected “major injuries” and was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

Police said a passenger in Black’s vehicle suffered suspected minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

According to the police release, Miller would have been cited for leaving his lane, and Black is being cited for careless driving.
