David B. Cox, 82, formerly of Corry, Pa., passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at his daughter’s home.

He was born July 3, 1940, in Titusville, and was a son of the late Howard and Ethel (Allen) Cox.

Dave was raised and educated in Corry and attended Corry Area High School. After high school, he was president of Big Country Records in Elgin for a few years, until joining the Jimmy Stone Show, where he sang and played the bass. They entertained the troops in Canada, the United States, and were stationed in Alaska for some time.

Dave then returned to Corry and worked at Molded Fiber Glass (MFG) in Union City, Tonnard’s in Corry, and then at Corry MFG, until he retired in 1995. After retirement, he worked part-time for Ray Mosher at the BP station, then played bass and sang in a gospel group called, “Country Conversion” and played at the Corry City Park, local fairs and for several churches. In 2009, he and his wife moved to Sarver, and were members of Zion United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir. He also was in a band called, “The Brotherhood.”

He was a past member of the Corry Evangelical Church as a child, member of the Oneida Bow Hunters Club in Butler, and the Spartansburg Sportsmen Club, was involved in hunter education, enjoyed archery, black powder hunting, and making black powder guns.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Howard Cox; and a grandson, Josh Cox.

Dave is survived by his wife, Donna Clayton Cox, whom he married Jan. 27, 1997, in Union City, Pa.; two daughters, Susan Yerakes of Jamestown, N.Y., and Laurie Reese and her husband, Dan, of Tidioute, Pa.; three sons, David Cox and his wife, Ellen, of Clearwater, Fla., Tim Cox of Elgin, Pa., and Ricky Cox of Corry, Pa.; a stepson, Scott Chaffee and his wife, Kimberly, of Karns City; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

COX — A celebration of life will be held at a later date for David B. Cox, who died Monday, Sept. 5, 2022.

A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver.
